Not for the beginner, you can get into real trouble on the river, the current is around 10 knots and it's a long swim back from the middle.
Directions
to get there:
From the Peace Bridge follow the river north. There is a sign marking the historic crossing. There is a Public parking lot near the sign, we park about 500 yds north of the lot, almost directly across from the beach at Beaver Island State Park
